Our Culture
Strength. Freedom. Room to rise.
A family-owned and operated circus where Terra, Eric and Victoria make safety, support and possibility part of every class.
What we believe
Where every person has room to rise
Flexibility in Flight is where strength becomes expression, movement becomes freedom, and every person has room to rise. Owner Terra Meierdierck, a master's-level educator, built this studio on a simple belief: ability is grown, not granted.
We teach from an open mindset. Every question is welcome, every modification is valid, and every wobbly first attempt is celebrated as data — not failure. Our coaches are guides, not drill sergeants, and our students are teammates, not competitors.
This is also a family business in the truest sense. Terra leads the instruction, Eric handles the rigging, building and behind-the-scenes work, and their daughter Victoria grew up in the studio and now helps welcome the next generation of flyers. Together they keep Flexibility in Flight running as a small, woman-owned, family-run circus in the heart of Chester, NY.

The open-mindset philosophy
Words we train by
"Nobody arrives 'flexible enough' or 'strong enough.' You arrive curious, and we build from there."
"A classroom should be a place where 'I can't' is replaced with 'I can't yet.'"
"Circus is not about being fearless. It is about taking the next step while the fear is still there."
How we show up
Five pillars of Flight Family culture
Strength
Power is built, not assumed. Conditioning, climbs, close attention to grip and patient spotting help every student build strength safely.
Freedom
Movement is self-expression. Fluid floorwork, spinning and suspended shapes create room to explore, release and find your own voice.
Belonging
Students are welcomed at every level. Encouragement, hugs, cheers, instructor support and classmates celebrating are all part of the work.
Courage
Growth happens one attempt at a time. First climbs, shaking hands, retries and the moment a new skill lands are equally worthy of celebration.
Flight
Silks, hoop, pole and wide-open studio moments create a sense of possibility — the feeling that you can rise beyond what you thought you could do.

Family circus
Terra, Eric & Victoria — a family that keeps the show running
Terra dreamed up Flexibility in Flight and has spent years turning it into a place where students of all ages find confidence in the air. With a master's degree in education, she designs classes that meet people where they are and progress them safely toward skills they once thought impossible.
Eric is the steady force behind the scenes. He maintains the rigging, manages building projects and makes sure the studio is safe, functional and welcoming. His work lets Terra and the coaching team focus entirely on the students.
Victoria is the original circus baby. She has grown up in the studio, and now she helps the next generation of kids and teens feel at home in the air. For many young students, Victoria is the first friendly face they see — proof that circus can be a lifelong family affair.
Together they have created something rare: a small, independent, family-run studio with big-heart energy and a genuine welcome mat at the door.
