What to wear

The right outfit makes every class safer, more comfortable, and way more fun.

Aerial silks class at Flexibility in Flight in Chester, NY

Aerial Classes

Silks, Lyra, Rope & Aerial Yoga

Aerial apparatuses wrap, press, and slide across your body — so coverage and smooth fabrics are key. Exposed skin can get friction burns, and anything with hardware can snag or tear equipment.

Wear this

  • Form-fitting leggings that cover the back of your knees
  • A fitted long-sleeve top or rashguard (covers armpits and elbows)
  • A sports bra or fitted tank underneath
  • Bare feet — no socks or shoes
  • Long hair tied back securely

Avoid this

  • All jewelry — rings, watches, earrings, bracelets, necklaces
  • Zippers, buckles, snaps, sequins, or anything that could snag fabric
  • Loose t-shirts that ride up during inversions
  • Lotion or oil on hands and forearms (kills your grip)
Pole fitness class at Flexibility in Flight in Chester, NY

Pole Fitness

Static, Spin & Flying Pole

Pole is the opposite of aerial — your skin is your grip. Fabric slides on chrome, so the more skin contact you have, the safer and more confident you'll feel on the pole.

Wear this

  • Spandex or cotton shorts (shorter is better for advanced grip)
  • A fitted sports bra or supportive tank
  • Bare feet or pole-specific heels (for advanced levels)
  • Hair tied back and away from your face

Avoid this

  • Lotion, oil, or body butter within 24 hours of class
  • Self-tanner or spray tan (transfers to the pole)
  • Necklaces, bracelets, watches, and rings
  • Loose t-shirts that ride up during inversions
  • Long fingernails on your dominant hand
Bellydance class at Flexibility in Flight in Chester, NY

Bellydance

Traditional & Fusion Styles

Bellydance is all about free, fluid movement. You want clothing that breathes, stretches, and lets you see and feel your body's isolations without restriction.

Wear this

  • Leggings or a flowy skirt with a fitted top
  • A sports bra or fitted tank that won't shift during shimmies
  • Bare feet or soft jazz shoes
  • A hip scarf if you have one (we also provide them)
  • Long hair tied back or away from your face

Avoid this

  • Heavy perfumes or scented lotions
  • Loose jewelry that jangles or swings
  • Restrictive jeans or stiff fabrics
  • Slippery socks on the studio floor
